Volk-Perez scores in OT to lift #4 Knights over Albright 1-0; Law breaks program shutout mark

READING, PA:  (Oct. 19, 2010) -  First year Sara Volk Perez (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) was the recipient of a through ball from senior Janelle Jablonski (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) and scored the game winner past Albright College goalkeeper Olivia Guiliano 4:10 into overtime to lift Arcadia Women's Soccer to a 1-0 victory over the Lions in Commonwealth Conference play Tuesday evening in Reading.  The win is the second overtime winner in as many games for #4 Arcadia who improves to 12-3-1 and 4-1 among league opponents.  Albright drops to 7-7-3 and remain in pursuit of their first league win (0-4-1).

Making her 4th and final stop of the game during the overtime stanza, sophomore keeper Jackie Law (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) collected her 7th shutout of the season, and 18th over her two-year career, taking over the school record, previously set by Michelle Leone '09 (17.5 shutouts).  Tonight's shutout was the third straight for the sophomore who earned Commonwealth Conference Goalie of the Week honors on Monday.

For Jablonski, it would be the second straight overtime game winning assists dished out by the senior who leads the squad in assists (10).

The Knights led in both shots (13-6) and corners (3-0).  Guilano finished with 10 saves for the Lions.  Senior Katie O'Malley (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville Area) and Volk-Perez finished with 3 shots on goal to lead the Knight offense.  Tonight's game winner was the second of the season for Volk-Perez.

The victory allows the Knights to retain a stronghold on second place within the Commonwealth standings.  The Knights also improve to their highest NSCAA ranking of the season, taking the #4 position following a 2-0 week in Commonwealth play last week.

Arcadia looks to keep their momentum rolling as the host league rival Lebanon Valley College this Saturday at The New Field at Noon.
