WILLIAMSPORT, PA:  (Oct. 2, 2010) - Arcadia University first year
Joe Bagnall (York, PA/Dallastown) scored the first game winner of his career in the 82nd minute of today's 1-0 victory over host Lycoming College in the opening game of Commonwealth Conference men's soccer action.  The win is the second straight for Arcadia who evens their overall record at 5-5 following a 2-0 week.  Lycoming drops to 5-6 overall.
Arcadia fashioned a solid defensive presence from start to finish, holding Lycoming shot-less in the first half, while allowing the home team just three shots through regulation.  Lycoming keeper James Quinn stopped all four Knight shots on goal in opening half and the game remained scoreless at halftime.
Arcadia first year keeper
Ryan Lantzy (Pheonixville, PA/Pheonixville), idle through the game's first 51 minutes, proved ready for whatever the Lycoming attack could muster up and denied the Warrior's Jimmy Deseal in the 51st minute to preserve the scoreless game.
Quinn, the recipient of 15 Arcadia shot on goal for the game, turned away the Knights' first four chances of the second half, striving for the shutout with eight minutes to play in regulation.  Unfortunately for Quinn and the Warriors, the shutout would be credited to Lanzy and his Knights as Arcadia lit the scoreboard up at 82:15 when senior
Joe Clementi (Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) played his pass to Bagnall who shot the ball into the low right corner giving Arcadia the 1-0 lead.  The goal stood as the game winner.
The Knights out-shot Lycoming 15-3 while the Warriors held the 4-3 edge in corner chances.  Lantzy, needing to stop only one Lycoming shot on goal, improves to 4-4 overall and earns his third shutout of the season.
Arcadia returns to action this Wednesday at home, hosting Wilkes University in non-conference play at 4 PM on The New Field.
