Knights split MAC Crossover games

GLENSIDE, PA:  (Oct. 2, 2010) -  Playing host to the first annual Middle Atlantic Conference Crossover Tournament, Arcadia University Volleyball split their two matches, cruising to a 3-0 win over Freedom Conference member Manhattanville College this morning while falling in four to Delaware Valley, 3-1. 

Arcadia (7-10 overall) benefited from an impressive .357 attack percentage from sophomore Delaney Dobson (Horsham, PA/Archbishop Wood) in the team's 3-0 win over the Valiants.  Dobson earned 7 points for the Knights who won the match 25-11, 25-23, 25-20.  Senior Natasha Wetten (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin East) earned 11 points for AU off of her team high 11 kills while first year Carlee Rossiter (Annapolis, MD/Broadneck) dished out a team high 20 assists as the setter. 

Manhattanville (5-8 overall) would later force Alvernia to a deciding fifth game but lost 2-3 (25-18, 17-25, 25-17, 20-25, 13-15). 

In Arcadia's second match of the afternoon, Delaware Valley College(8-8 overall) found revenge for a 3-1 loss dealt by Arcadia back on Sept. 18 at the Penn State Berks Tri-Match.  The Aggies, who opened the day with a 3-1 (25-20, 25-17, 23-25, 25-17) victory over Alvernia (3-6 overall) would go up by two games before Arcadia rallied to win game three, however DelVal sealed the 3-1 victory in game four (25-18, 25-21, 21-25, 25-17).  Junior Hailey Barger (Sitka, AK/Sitka) posted a season-best attack percentage, hitting an astounding .458 as the starting middle hitter.  She led her team with 12 kills which produced 13.5 points for the Knights.  Dobson added 10 kills and 2 solo blocks while Wetten chipped in with 10 kills and 12 digs.  Junior outside hitter Erin Ficca (Exton, PA/Bishop Shanahan) dug a team high 16 balls sent in by the Aggies attack while Rossiter dished out 30 assists. 

Arcadia will return to their Commonwealth schedule when they travel to Albright College on Tuesday, Oct. 5 for a 7 PM match.
