Knights close out season on top, defeat Lions 3-0

ABINGTON, PA: (Oct. 30) - Arcadia Volleyball, having last been victorious back on Oct. in a 3-2 thriller over Gwynedd-Mercy, didn't need to travel far to secure their 9th and final victory of the season. The Knights traveled the short distance to neighboring Penn State-Abington and swept the Lions 3-0 to conclude the 2010 season with a win. Game scores were 25-11, 25-13, 25-14.

One of their finest attacking games of the season, Arcadia out-hit Penn State .270 to -.077 and outscored them 45 to 17. Hailey Barger led the Knights with 11 points off of 8 kills (.312). She also added a service ace and a pair of solo blocks. Erin Ficca and Melissa D'Arcangelo added 6 points apiece for Arcadia while adding 6 and 5 digs respectively. Jessyca Stoler dished out 12 assists and added 6 digs. Carlee Rossiter finished the season with an impressive 539 assists, registering 10 this afternoon. Krista Hsu led the team with 4 service aces and finsihed with 5 points and 6 digs.

Seniors Natasha Wetten, Christina DiMichele and Jacqueline Sentz each played two of the three matches to close out their collegiate careers. Wetten would finish with 3 kills (.429) and a service aces for four points, adding 3 assists and 5 digs. DiMichele registered 1 kill and 5 digs while Sentz chipped in with 2 kills, 2 assists a service ace and a dig.

The Knights (9-14, 0-7 CC) racked up 12 points off the service including one each from Dana Maythenyi and Alexia Zwygart. Maytheni would add 2 kills and a solo block while Zwygart finished with 2 digs and an assist.
