Knights earn split at Bryn Mawr Tri-Match

Bryn Mawr, PA:  (Oct. 9, 2010)  - Arcadia University defeated local rival Gwynedd-Mercy College in 5 sets, however, in another full length match fell to the host Bryn Mawr College. Arcadia now sits at 8-12 overall, and 0-4 entering this week's conference play.

The Knights in their first match of the day against GMC took the first, third, and fifth sets all of which were tightly contested. As a team Arcadia had 53 kills, junior Hailey Barger had a team-high 13 kills, and senior Natasha Wetten contributed 10 of her own to aide in the Knights attack. Great defense also helped lead the Knights to victory as Gwynedd-Mercy proved to be a formidable opponent with an aggressive attacking style of their own. Wetten was huge in the passing game with 24 digs, fellow senior Christina DiMichele and first-year Krista Hsu both added 12 digs. Barger led the team defensively at the net with 4 solo blocks.

In Arcadia's second contest against Bryn Mawr they jumped out to a two set to zero advantage however were unable to close the deal, losing the final three sets. Wetten again stood out for the Knights with 15 kills, and 21 digs. Erin Ficca led the team with 28 digs. While Arcadia set up their attack on several occasions they were unable to finish on a consistent enough basis, earning 44 kills as a team on 181 attempts. 

Arcadia will return back to the court for Wednesday when they play host to Commonwealth opponent Alvernia University at 7 PM.
