Pioneers deal men's soccer second straight loss at Steven's Tournament

HOBOKEN, N.J. :  (Sept. 11, 2010)  William Paterson freshman Mike Lowe scored both goals, including the game winner 37 seconds into the second overtime period, as the William Paterson men's soccer team (3-1-1) defeated Arcadia (2-3), 2-1, Sept. 11 at the Steven's Tech Tournament. 

Lowe broke the ice in the 16th minute, heading a Julian Valerio free kick past Arcadia sophomore goalkeeper Phil McCarthy (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge). That lead held up until the 83rd minute, when first year Joe Bagnell (York, PA/Dallstown)  knocked in a rebound to tie the score and eventually force overtime.

Lowe collected his team-leading fourth goal of the year when got a head on a Dan Fulmer corner kick just seconds into the second extra session, depositing the ball into the lower-left corner of the goal for the game winner.

Junior Zach Collins had three saves for William Paterson, and McCarthy made five stops for Arcadia. The Pioneers had a 25-12 edge in shots, including a 4-0 advantage in overtime.

The Knights continue their road schedule traveling to Goucher College next Saturday, Septmenber 18.
