Knights fall in Commonwealth Opener

GLENSIDE, PA: (Sept. 15, 2010)  Arcadia University opened up the 2010 Commonwealth Conference season this evening at home against Lebanon Valley College, falling in three games (17-25, 13-25, 18-25) to the Dutchmen. The Knights scrapped during every point, many times forcing their opponent to hit a second and third shot for a winner, however, they didn't have enough fire power to combat LVC.

Lebanon Valley dominated the attack game this evening, finding ways to turn free ball attempts into attacking possessions on almost every play. For the match the Dutchmen converted 34 kills on 108 attempts, while the Knights converted 24 kills on 113 attempts. Arcadia committed 18 attack errors to 14 for Lebanon Valley.

Arcadia was led again by senior Natasha Wetten with 9 kills. Classmate Christina DiMichele held her own in the backline against a hard hitting LVC squad with a game-high 23 digs in the match. First-Year Carlee Rossiter contributed 22 assists in the Knights hitting attack.

The Knights will return to action this weekend when they travel to Penn State Berks for a tri-match against the host team and Delaware Valley College. The Knights first match will begin at noon, and can be followed via live stats.
