Knights slip past Moravian for 2-1 victory

GLENSIDE, PA:  (Sept. 16, 2010) - Arcadia University Field Hockey remains unbeaten at home following this afternoon's 2-1 non-conference win over the Greyhounds of Moravian College. The victory makes the Knights 4-1 overall on the season as the team continues to build upon a record-setting start. Leading the offense this afternoon was senior Adrianne Altera (Califon, NJ/Voorhees) and sophomore Marilyn Beatty (Chalfont, PA/North Penn), each contributing a goal.

Caroline Champi (Laflin, PA/Pittston Area) attacked from right to middle of the circle to get off a tough shot, only to be saved by the Greyhound goalie, however the rebound came right to Altera who found the back of the cage. The Altera goal, her fifth of the season, came off several offensive threats in the opening minutes of the game in which the Knights again were able to dominate time of possession.

Marissa Perez (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) was there to deny her the goal and keep the game tied at a goal a piece.

Ashley Griffith (Cape May, NJ/Cape May Regional).  Griffith got off a shot which deflected off the goalie, however Beatty continued her charge into the circle taking the rebound on the right side putting it in the back of the cage for what proved to be the game winning goal. It was Beatty's fourth score of the season, and second game winner.

Sarah Baumgardner (Hatboro, PA/Upper Moreland) made two saves over the course of 15:00 played in the second half to preserve the tie game. Perez, who made one save, allowed one through 55 minutes in the cage and improves to 4-1 in goal this season.
