GLENSIDE, PA: (Sept. 24, 2010) - Arcadia University wasted no time with Rosemont College this evening, defeating them in straight sets (25-18, 25-22, 25-15) in non-conference action. The win improves the Knights record to 5-6 overall.
After a slow start to the opening set, with Rosemont taking the opening three points, the Knights quickly gained their composure and 8 of the next 10 points to take a commanding lead. The Ravens of Rosemont would try to hang close however the hustle and net presence of Arcadia was just too much as the Knights took the final 5 points of the game to take game one.
The second set would start much like the first, however, at many points throughout the set it seemed as Rosemont had a firm hold on the game, at one point holding a 15-9 advantage. However, the Knights would again rally following a team timeout to win 16 of the next 23 points, taking a 2-0 lead. Arcadia would use the third set to put away the Ravens, taking control early, earning the 25-15 win for the straight set victory.
Junior Hailey Barger (Sitka, AK/Sitka) led the Knights with 10 kills and only 2 errors on 19 attempts in the match. Sophomore Delaney Dobson (Horsham, PA/Archbishop Wood) and senior Natasha Wetten (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) would each contribute 7 kills to aide in the Knights attack. Sophomore Jess Stoler (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) led the Knights with 14 assists and 5 service aces.
Arcadia will travel to FDU-Florham this Saturday September 25th for a quad-match against the host team, Regis College (MA), and Union College.
