O’Malley scores in the final minutes of regulation to give Knights win over Delaware Valley

GLENSIDE, Pa:  (Sept. 29, 2010) – Arcadia Senior Katie O'Malley (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville Area) scored with 4:24 left in regulation to break a scoreless game and give the Knights a 1-0 victory in today's non-conference women's soccer game against Delaware Valley College.  The win allows the Knights (8-2-1) to remain undefeated in their last 9 games.

Just as the crowd prepared for overtime, Senior Janelle Jablonski (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) sent a lead pass ahead for O'Malley, who controlled the ball and sent a rocket into the upper right corner of the net from 10 yards out.  The goal was O'Malley's second game winner of the season while the assist was Jablonski's team leading twelfth point of the season.

Arcadia seemed to really pick the tempo up in the second half, sending 11 shots at Delaware Valley keeper, Julie Burnell, while out-shooting  the Aggies 16-8 for the game.  First year Rachel Dolly (North East, MD/North East) sent five shots at the net herself.  The aggressor was obvious, as the Knights forced 4 corner opportunities while the Aggies were unable to manage even one.

Knights Sophomore keeper Jackie Law (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains Fanwood) made 4 saves in net on her way to her fourth shut-out performance of the season.   Burnell made 6 saves for the Aggies of Delaware Valley College who fall to 3-5-1 overall.

Arcadia returns to action Saturday afternoon, traveling to Lycoming College for a Men's and Women's double-header.  Arcadia's men's team kickoffs at 12PM while the women play at 3PM.
