GLENSIDE, PA: (Sept. 4, 2010) Arcadia University Volleyball evened their early season record at 1-1 with a 3-0 blanking of Cedar Crest College in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Alumni Gymnasium. The Knights, who fell behinid 6-1 at the start of the first set, quickly turned things around to win the opener 25-12 and sets two and three by scores of 25-12 and 25-16. A season ago, Arcadia needed five sets to knock off the Falcons in a 3-2 marathon contest in Allentown.
Arcadia dominated the service game against the Falcons, earning an impressive 24 points off the serve, led by senior Christina DiMichele (Media, PA/Academy of Notre Dame) with 6 service aces and 10 digs, both team highs. Junior Erin Ficca (Exton, PA/Bishop Shanahan) and first year Veronika Bailey (Plato, MO/Plato) added 5 servce aces and 2 digs apeice.
Earning four team blocks, the Knights balanced attack also had contributions from sophomore Delaney Dobson (Horsham, PA/Archbishop Wood), who led the Knights with 10 kills, senior Natasha Wetten (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin East) with 5 kills and 4 digs. Dobson and Wetten each hit .333 to lead the Knights attack, while first year Krista Hsu (Newark, DE/Delcastle Tech) chipped in with 5 kills and 6 digs.
Arcadia will look to make it two in a row when they travel to Immaculata University, this Thursday at 7 PM.
