Late first half scoring helps Knights soar past Rosemont Ravens 5-1

ROSEMONT, PA:  (Sept. 8, 2010)  - Arcadia University Men's Soccer returned to the win column this afternoon with a 5-1 non-conference victory over the Ravens of Rosemont College.  Tied at 1-1 in the 23rd minute of today's game, the Knights broke open the scoring late in the second half with three goals in a span of three minutes to put the game out of reach.

First year Nick Morris (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge) continued his hot streak, scoring the game's first goal at 17:34 off a feed from junior Kevin Caruso (Readington, NJ/Hunterdon Central).  The Ravens responded at 22:11 on an unassisted score from Ron Vogelei to knot the score at 1-1.  Senior Joe Clementi (Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) broke the stalemate with his second of the season at 33:19 which sparked the first of four unanswered goals for Arcadia.  Just over a minute later Clementi fed a ball to first year Joe Bagnall (York, PA/Dallastown) for his first collegiate score and the 4-1 Knights lead.  And less than a minute later, at 35:23 junior Ethan Armstrong (Ambler, PA/Wissahickon) sent his first score of the season into the twine, unassisted for the 5-1 Knights advantage.  Armstrong then added an assist on a pass to sophomore Zach Todd (Cape May Courthouse, NJ/Middle Twp.) who closed out the game's scoring at 80:11.  It was Todd's first goal of the 2010 season.

Sophomore Phil McCarthy (Goshen, NY/John S. Burke Catholic) made the start in goal for Arcadia, finishing with 3 saves for the victory.  Raven keeper Nick Hulayew finished with 7 saves.  Arcadia owned the advantage in shots 29-7 and corner opportunities 5-0.

The Knights return to action this weekend in the Steven Tech Tournament.  Arcadia will play North Carolina Wesleyan on Friday at 4 PM followed by a 5 PM game against William Paterson (NJ) on Saturday
