Volleyball breaks even at MAC Crossover

Knights defeat Kings 3-2, fall to Manhattanville 3-1

WILKES-BARRE, Pa.:  King's College hosted the 2011 Middle Atlantic Conferences (MAC) Volleyball Crossover Tournament today, hosting fellow Freedom Conference member Manhattanville alongside Arcadia and Lycoming representing the Commonwealth.  Arcadia University showcased solid team play resulting in a split their matches against their Freedom rivals. 

The Knights went toe-to-toe with host King's in a five-setter, winning 3-2 before allowing a one game lead to slip away, coming up short in a battle against Manhattanville, 3-1. 

Game scores for the Arcadia-King's match were:  25-20, 24-26, 25-22, 25-27, 15-12.

Game scores for the Arcadia-Manhattanville match were: 28-26, 25-21, 21-25, 25-16. 

The Knights brought two of their most balanced efforts of the season today with six players producing significant numbers on both sides of the ball. 

Senior Hailey Barger (Sitka, AK/Sitka) slammed down 18 kills, came up with 2 digs and 1 solo block.  Sophomore Krista Hsu (Newark, DE/Delcastle Tech) contributed 11 kills, 9 digs and 1 ace.  Junior Delaney Dobson (Horsham, PA/Archbishop Wood) added 9 kills, 2 solo blocks and 2 block assists and first year Stephanie Stone (Effort, PA/Pleasant Valley) uncovered 10 digs, dishing out 7 assists with 2 aces.  Junior Jessyca Stoler (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) dealt out 36 assists across both matches, along with 24 digs and 3 service aces. And Veronika Bailey (Plato, MO/Plato) getting it done defensively with 33 digs to go along with 4 assists.
