Hot hitting pushes Dutchmen past Knights

ANNVILLE, Pa.: Arcadia University Volleyball faced a tough Lebanon Valley squad, that saw their Commonwealth record improve to 5-1 this evening, defeating the Knights in three games.  The Dutchmen out-hit Arcadia .344 to .076 on the attack and set the tone early, hitting nearly .790 in the opening game, forcing the Knights hand in the early going.

Game scores were:  25-9, 25-16, 25-18 in favor of the Dutchmen (19-6 overall).

The Dutchmen entered tonight's match 7-1 in their last 8 outings.  Arcadia (5-12, 0-6 CC) has struggled as of late with 3 wins in the month of October and remain in pursuit of their first league win this season.  With three more non-conference games on tap, the Knights  do have one more try at a league victory when they host Elizabethtown College on Oct. 26 for senior night.

Arcadia made the most of their opportunities this evening, and by the end of the match, the team had steadily improved offensive production over the course of each game.  But while attacking errors were even at 14 for each team, Lebanon Valley turned 11 points on Arcadia's receiving errors alone allowing them a comfortable enough lead in each game.

Senior Hailey Barger (Sitka, AK/Sitka) and junior Delaney Dobson (Hatboro, PA/Archbishop Wood) finished with 8 kills apiece. to pace Arcadia.  Junior Jessyca Stoler (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) dished away 18 assists while sophomore Melissa D'Arcangelo (Brookefield, CT/Brookefield) added 10 digs.

Arcadia looks to scratch the win column, hosting Penn State Abington in non-conference play this Thursday at 7 p.m.
