Knights weather past Dutchmen 2-0

ANNVILLE, Pa.:   Heavy rains and wind couldn't stop Arcadia University Men's Soccer in a critical game this afternoon at Commonwealth Conference rival Lebanon Valley College, as the Knights scored two goals in the opening half and held the host Dutchmen off the scoreboard in both securing the 2-0 victory.

With his first goal of the season, senior Ethan Armstrong (Ambler, PA/Wissahickon) scored off the work of sophomore Dean Search (Allentown, NJ/Allentown) just 6:52 into the game giving Arcadia an early boost of momentum.  The Knights built upon their lead at 19:26 when senior Zach Todd (Cape May Courthouse, NJ/Middle Twp.) scored his team leading 5th goal of the season off an assist from Armstrong.

Despite being out-shots 15-12 by the Dutchmen, Arcadia protected their 2-0 advantage throughout regulation behind a 6 save performance from sophomore netminder Ryan Lantzy (Pheonixville, PA/Pheonixville).  The shutout is Lantzy's 5th of the season.

First year Tim O'Leary (Gladstone, NJ/ Gill St. Bernards) recorded 2 shots on goal to round out the Knight's top offensive players.

Dutchmen keeper James Clements made 3 saves in the loss.

Lebanon Valley drops to 9-7 and 2-3 in Commonwealth play, while  Arcadia  improves to 8-6-1 overall with a  3-1-1 record against league opponents.

With today's win the Knights continue their playoff push with two remaining league games, at home this Saturday, Oct. 23 against Elizabethtown and on the road on Oct. 29 at Alvernia.  Saturday's game will begin at 12 Noon with the women's contest to follow at 3 p.m.  The teams will honor their graduating seniors prior to each contest.
