Volleyball sweeps Penn State Abington

GLENSIDE, Pa.:  Arcadia University Volleyball rolled to their sixth win of the season with a 3-0 sweep of visiting Penn State Abington in tonight's non-conference match. 

Match scores were:  25-9, 25-20, 25-5.

Led by 12.5 points on 10 kills from senior Hailey Barger (Sitka, AK/Sitka), the Knights combined to out-hit the Lions .393 to -.192.  Penn State drops to 2-8 with tonight's loss. 

Set two gave Arcadia (6-12, 0-6 CC) the most trouble, winning by five after a 25-9 win in set one and 25-5 victory to win the match in set three.   Arcadia played their best in the final set, highlighted by a 17-point service effort by sophomore libero Veronika Bailey (Plato, MO/Plato).  Barger added 2 solo blocks and a assisted on a block with Jessyca Stoler (Lansdale, PA/North Penn), who finished with 19 assists, 3 kills.  Sophomore Krista Hsu (Newark, DE/Delcastle Tech) won 6 points on 6 kills and led the team in digs (6).

Tonight's win was the team's second in their last three outings and second of the year by sweep.

The Knights travel to Delaware Valley College on Monday, Oct. 24 and return to Glenside for their home finale on Wed., Oct. 26 against Elizabethtown, the team's senior night.  Wednesday's Commonwealth match against the Blue Jays begins at 7 p.m.
