Field Hockey denied at Albright

READING, Pa.:  Arcadia University Field Hockey took a ride up to Reading this afternoon, for the final Commonwealth Conference game of the year.  The Knights were in pursuit of their first league win yet left without it, as host Albright College won today's game 1-0.

First year Allison Dombrowski scored with just 4:22 remaining for the Lions (6-12, 1-5).  Dombrowski's initial shot was saved from close range by Arcadia first year goalkeeper Jessica Mahoney (North Wildwood, NJ/Cape May Tech), but the Albright rookie got to the rebound and lifted it past Mahoney and into the net.  Mahoney finished with 2 saves.

Each team managed just 5 shots apiece.  Arcadia edged the Lions on corner attempts 6-5, but still struggled to knock one past the Lions' sophomore goalie Marquerite DeLucas, who recorded her 10th career shutout with today's victory.   DeLucas stopped two key chances for the Knights, the first  a kick away from junior Marilyn Beatty (Chalfont, PA/North Penn) when she nearly broke free in the second half, and later, made a key double-save on first year Morgan Paese (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt).

Arcadia (5-13, 0-6) rounds out the 2011 season looking for win number six, Tuesday at Notre Dame University of Maryland at 4 p.m.
