E'town takes league win from Men's Soccer

GLENSIDE, Pa.:  With the end of the regular season league schedule wearing thin, Elizabethtown College fought out a tough 2-0 win over host Arcadia University in today's Commonwealth Conference game.  Today's loss knocks the Knights back into the fourth slot in the standings with one final league game remaining.

Arcadia (8-7, 3-2-1) had some close range chances to get on the board in the opening half, encountering a swarm of Blue Jay players each time.  E'town had their own handful of scoring opportunities and they cashed in on one with just over ten minutes to go in the half.  At 34:18, Zach Hollinger played a ball in the air to Eric Borkowicz.  Borkowicz angled a header that floated past sophomore keeper Ryan Lantzy (Pheonixville, PA/Pheonixville) putting E'town on top 1-0.  The Knights continued to press on the attack but E'town held the lead for the rest of the half.  Lantzy made 4 stops for the Knights by game's end.

The Blue Jays tacked on a second and final score at 63:05, this time with Hollinger finishing the play, connecting on a rebound shot that hit the crossbar and bounced over the goal line for a 2-0 Blue Jays advantage.

Elizabethtown keeper Eric Carr made 5 stops in the shutout as his Blue Jays improve to 9-5 and 4-2 within the league.

Prior to today's game, Arcadia honored their graduating seniors:  Kevin Caruso (Readington, NJ/Hunterdon Central), Brian Devlin (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge), Ethan Armstrong (Ambler, PA/Wissahickon) and Chris Macchi (New Albany, OH/New Albany).

The Knights travel to Moravian College on Tuesday, Oct. 25 for their final regular season non-conference game before having their playoff fate determined when they play at Alvernia University on Oct. 29 3:30 p.m.
