Barger, Stoler lead Volleyball to sweep of Bryn Athyn

BRYN ATYN, Pa.: Playing their final match of 2011, Arcadia University Volleyball made quick work of non-conference and first-time opponent, Bryn Athyn College, winning 3-0 to cap the season with a 7-14 overall record.

Set scores were: 25-22, 25-15, 25-21

Senior Hailey Barger (Sitka, AK/Sitka) earned 13 points for her team off of 6 blocks, 4 solos and 2 assisted to go along with a team high 7 kills. Junior Jessyca Stoler (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) played a roll in 23 points for the Knights with 16 points from assists along with 3 kills, and 4 aces. Stoler also added 9 digs.

Sophomore Veronica Bailey (Plato, MO/Plato) led the team in digs with 13 and classmate Melissa D'Arcangelo (Brookefield, CT/Brookefield) with 6 kills and 11 digs. First year Olivia Shaner (Reading, PA/Governor Mifflin) added 4 kills, 10 digs and a solo block.

Tonight's win was the third of the season by sweep, with all coming in the past two weeks. Arcadia combined for 8 total blocks and out-hit their hosts .113 to .072.

The Knights will return 11 players from this year's team to the squad for the 2012 season. A career recap on the team's two graduating players, Barger and Stoler, will be posted in the coming days.
