Volleyball wins another five set cliffhanger

ROSEMONT, Pa.:  Arcadia University Volleyball endured their second five set victory over the past week, this time, dispatching host Rosemont College, 3-2 in tonight's non-conference match.  Arcadia moves to 4-9 overall and with tonight's victory, snaps a two-game slide. On Saturday, the Knights went to a game five at King's and won which also ended a two-game skid.

Tonight's game scores were: 25-18, 25-15, 17-25, 24-26, 15-10.

Arcadia hasn't dropped a set to Rosemont (4-11 overall) since the 2004 season, a streak the team was hoping to build upon as the Knights went up 2-0 after pocketing 25-18 and 25-15 wins in the first two sets.   But t Arcadia couldn't shake Rosemont so easily.  The Ramblers fought back to grab game three (17-25) and needed an extra play to take game four (24-26) to force the deciding game five.

Tonight saw the team playing without two starters in junior Delaney Dobson and senior Hailey Barger but featured the debut of first year Olivia Shaner (Reading, PA/Govenor Mifflin). Shaner contributed a team high 15 kills along with 11 digs in her first collegiate contest.  Sophomore Krista Hsu (Newark, DE/DelCastle Tech) put down 10 kills and was all over the net, earning 7 solo blocks.  She also had 7 digs.

Junior Jessyca Stoler (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) set the pace on offense, setting up for 37 assists, with 12 digs.  Stoler also stepped up her service game, earning 6 aces, a game high.  Sophomore Carlee Rossiter (Annapolis, MD/Broadneck) added 5 aces in 3 games played while Veronika Bailey (Plato, MO/Plato) rang in with a game high 17 digs.

The Knights play host to Immaculata College this Monday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. and return to their league schedule on Wednesday, Oct. 12 traveling to Messiah College.
