Saltus helps Knights stay undefeated at home

Box Score GLENSIDE, Pa.:  Arcadia University took it to visiting Rosemont College Friday evening in front of alumni and fans, a 70-58 decision in favor of the Knights who improve to 6-4 overall and remain undefeated on their home floor at the Kuch Center. First year point guard Travis Saltus (Teaneck, NJ/Teaneck) engineered the Knights offense and finished with a game high 19 points.

The Knights layed low from beyond the arc and instead, attacked the paint in the early going, opening with 14 straight inside points.  Rosemont was right there however, with seven points from their leading scorer Harrison Carsillo who capped a three-point play off a steal and an and-one. The score remained in the Knight's favor, but only 12-11 with seven minutes gone.

Arcadia first year Aaron Lee-Webb (Norristown, PA/Norristown) converted on his own three-point play at 13:19 and then he lofted a back door alley-oop pass to sophomore Rashon Brock (Buena, NJ/Bueana), for a prime-time finish on the slam and a six point Arcadia lead at 17-11 with 11:21 to go in the half.  Saltuswent on to scored six straight in a three minute span, giving Arcadia the lead by a dozen (27-15).

First year Joe Brown (Philadelphia, PA/LaSalle) gave Arcadia an extra boost with his three-point swoosh as time wound down in the opening half and Arcadia headed into the locker room up 15, 36-21.  That bucket was assisted by Saltus who finished the half strong with ten points on 5-5 from the field.  The Knights finished with 26 of their 36 first half points scored in the paint.

Arcadia (6-4, 2-0 CC) remained the momentum holder for the entire second half but credit to Rosemont for slicing a one-time 18 point lead for the Knights (43-25) to six (49-43) with under ten minutes remaining.  The Ravens began their 22-10 run at 16:17 and capped it on a pair of free throws from Tremell Green at 9:56 before Saltus upped Arcadia's lead back to 11 on a 7 point spree in the eight minute mark.  Rosemont would get no closer and take their fourth loss of the season, dropping to 5-4 overall (3-2 CSAC).

Carsillo finished with 15 points and 7 boards to lead the Ravens.  Justin Chaney scored 13 points with 5 caroms and DeAndre Jordan added 10 points along with 3 steals.

For Arcadia, Brown finished another strong outing scoring a dozen along with 6 rebounds, 3 assists.  Lee-Webb netted 11 and junior Khalief Trawick (Philadelphia, PA/Franklin Learning Center) scored 9 points with 4 boards.  The Knights shot above 50% in both halves, finishing 53.8% for the game.  Rosemont shot just 40.8%.

The Knights provided returning alumni, gathered for the University's inaugural Arcadia Athletic Alumni Association (QUAD-A), an exciting game from start to stop as the team finishes the month of December with a 4-2 record.

Arcadia returns from the holiday to host Swarthmore College on Jan. 5, a 7 p.m. tip-off at the Kuch Center. Commonwealth Conference play resumes on Jan. 11 with Alvernia University hosting at 6 p.m.
