Knights halted by No. 8 Dutchmen

Box Score ANNVILLE, Pa.:  Arcadia University traveled to No. 8 Lebanon Valley College Saturday to face the defending Commonwealth Conference champions.  After falling behind 13-0 in the opening eight minutes of play, Arcadia battled back to cut their deficit to eight with under ten minutes remaining in the first half but would fall behind by 24 at the half and suffer their fifth straight setback, 75-44.

For the second straight contest, the Knights were led by sophomore Jenna Crothers (Patchogue, NY/Patchogue-Medford) who finished with 14 points.  Senior Christine Taylor (Navron, PA/Garden Spot) added 13 points and 5 rebounds and was perfect at the line.  Sophomore Christie Kershaw (Cheltenham, PA/Cheltenham) chipped in with 9 points and 11 rebounds, a game high.

Taylor hit the first of her three treys at 12:17 to finally put the Knights on the board, draining her second less than two minutes later making it a 10 point game (16-6).  Crothers hit a jumper just inside the ten minute mark to help slash the Dutchmen's 13 point lead down to 8 but the Knights went without a field goal over the next 5:07 as LVC continued with their balanced attack to extend their lead to 42-18 at the half.

Arcadia (0-5, 0-2 CC) hit just 25.5% from the floor with the Dutchmen not allowing the Knights many second-chance opportunities, with LVC taking care of 35 defensive rebounds. The hosts controlled the both ends of the glass, out-rebounding Arcadia 66-29.

LVC (6-0, 2-0 CC) shot 40% from the floor, 33% from downtown and 54.5% from the line.   Arcadia did enjoy the better afternoon at the charity stripe, hitting 55.6%.

Liz Borgia led the Dutchmen with 10 points and 7 rebounds.  Kiely Chaklos also scored 10 points and Amanda Donia finished with 9 rebounds and 3 steals for LVC.

Arcadia opens a three-game home-stand this Monday evening at the Kuch Center, taking on Penn State-Abington at 6 p.m. followed by Penn State-Hazleton on Wed., Dec. 7.
