GLENSIDE, PA: (March 5, 2011) – In their 2011 Erny Field debut, Arcadia University fell in a non-conference doubleheader to the Osprey from Richard Stockton College by the score of 8-6 in game one, and 5-0 in game two.
Game 1 Recap
Stockton jumped out to an early seven nothing lead, taking advantage of seven Knight errors in the first four innings. AU starter, Aaron Benusis was tagged with the loss in his collegiate debut. The right-hander surrendered seven hits, walked five, and registered three strikeouts before being relieved by Jason Heryla.
First-year Steven Bellenot led the Knight offense reaching base three times (two hits), and was one for two in stolen base attempts.
Arcadia rallied for six runs between the fifth and seventh innings, and with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, had the tying run on second with two out. Stockton closer John Lightbody then struck out first-year outfield Pat Kwiatkowski to end the game.
Game 2 Recap
In the nightcap, Stockton jumped on Knight starter Adam Planamento for two runs in the first, and never looked back. A pair of runs in the fourth, and a single run in the sixth gave the Osprey, and starter Adam Warburton, more than enough to complete the sweep.
Warburton stymied the Knight offense, surrendering just two hits and three walks in the complete game shutout.
Arcadia will return to the field on Tuesday, when they travel to Immaculata for a non-conference game. This will be the inaugural game at Immaculata's new ballpark, which was completed this past fall. First pitch is set for 3:00pm.
