Men's Soccer opens season with 3-0 win

Box Score GLENSIDE, Pa.:  [Box Score]  Arcadia University Men's Soccer opened the 2011 season this afternoon, hosting Immaculata University at home in non-conference play.  The Knights scored twice in the first half and once in the second to hang a 3-0 loss on the Mighty Macs and give sophomore keeper Ryan Lantzy (Pheonixville, PA/Pheonixville) his first shutout of the season.

Arcadia played a smothering defense through the duration of today's season opener, holding the visiting Mighty Macs to just one shot on goal.

Ten minutes into today's game junior Spencer Lalk (Sparta, NJ/Sparta) opened the scoring off a header from a corner pass from sophomore Nick Morris (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge).  Nine minutes later, with the Knights up 1-0, junior Zach Todd (Cape May Courthouse, NJ/Middle Twp.) headed home goal number two for Arcadia off a rebound at 19:26.  With a 2-0 lead at the half, sophomore Joe Bagnall (York, PA/Dallastown) capped the Knights scoring at 50:01 when Immaculata keeper Josh Garcia abandonded the ride side of the net.

Arcadia returns to their home field this Saturday, Sept. 3 hosting Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham at 10 AM in non-conference action.
