Field Hockey lead slips away at Scranton

SCRANTON, Pa.:  [Box Score] A huge start, flanked by a pair of goals spaced six minutes apart from Arcadia turned quickly into a blank slate for the University of Scranton Royals who scored twice to knot the score at the half and twice more in the second earning a 4-2 victory in today's non-conference game at Fitzpatrick Field. Junior Lauren Altera led the Knights with a goal and an assist and first year Morgan Paese scored the first of her career in the Arcadia loss.

In the opening minute, Arcadia worked for the first of their 9 corner opportunities. and as as play ensued, junior Lauren Altera's (Califon, NJ/Voorhees) pass found the stick of first year Morgan Paese (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt) for the score and the 1-0 Knights lead.  Six minutes later, the Knights went up 2-0 on an unassisted score from Altera.

Scranton's Gretchen Kempf scored in the 10th minute and later added her second and team's second in the 25th minute to force a tie at halftime.  The Royals registered the go-ahead tally in first minute of the second half to steal momentum away from the Knights who were only able to put one shot on the cage in the second.  Junior keeper Sarah Baumgardner (Hatboro, PA/Upper Moreland) made 3 stops in net for Arcadia and forced Scranton to shoot high on a penalty stroke in the first half.

The Knights (0-4) are aiming to snap their winless streak this Tuesday when they travel back to Northeastern Pa. to take on rival King's College at 4 p.m.
