Knights come up empty at King's

WILKES-BARRE, Pa.:  Arcadia University responded with a gutsy second half defensive performance but couldn't put the ball in the cage to answer a two-goal deficit as King's College held on to win 2-0 in today's non-conference field hockey game.   Arcadia (0-5) remains in search of their first win of the year with their next chance coming this Thursday at Moravian College.

Senior Melissa McNamee (Philadelphia, PA/Little Flower) moved from forward to defense this afternoon and responded with a veteran performance to help hold the Lady Monarchs to just 4 second half shots.  Junior keeper Sarah Baumgardner (Hatboro, PA/Upper Moreland) played a solid game in goal for Arcadia, making 6 stops.  Megan Withrow made 8 stops for King's (3-1) in the win.

Jenera Quinones scored both King's goals.  Megan Mundy took the initial shot on King's first score with the rebound buried into the cage by Quinones at 4:19.  Jackie Sikora sent a pass to Quinones at 32:44 and she threaded the shot into the left post off a corner for the 2-0 King's lead.

Arcadia led the Lady Monarchs in shots 14-11 and corners 11-6.  First years Morgan Paese (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt) and Molly Goldstein (Oak Ridge, NJ/Jefferson Twp.) each registered 3 shots on goal to lead the Arcadia attack.
