New nets needed after Knight's five goal explosion

GLENSIDE, Pa.:  Arcadia University Men's Soccer returned to winning form following 270 minutes of scoreless soccer, breaking the twine off the nets with a five goal explosion to knock off visiting Rosemont College this afternoon, 5-1.  Arcadia is now even at 3-3 overall while the Rosemont Ravens drop to 3-1.

Arcadia's three-game scoreless drought ended 1:49 into today's game when first year John Pacana (Pitman, NJ/Pitman) scored his first collegiate career tally off a lead pass through a defender from junior Zach Todd (Cape May Courthouse, NJ/Middle Twp.).  Nevertheless, the undefeated Ravens fought valiantly in the first half, locking the score back up at 1-1 with a goal from the team's leading goal scorer Patrick McElroy.  The game would remain at a standstill for the rest of the half.

However, the second half was a horse of a different color as Arcadia came out on fire, scoring 4 goals in a 23 minute span.

Todd headed home the tie breaker off a pass from sophomore Nick Morris (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge), then returned the favor, setting up Morris for his second goal of the season.  Todd scored once more, off an assist from junior Mike Cahill (Bensalem, PA/Bensalem), completing the game with 2 goals and 2 assists.  Sophomore, Andrew Duong (Eagleville, PA/Methacton) made sure to add the dagger with his first goal of the season as result of a nice set-up from junior Ben Smith (Deptford, NJ/Deptford).

In net for Arcadia was sophomore Ryan Lantzy (Pheonixville, PA/Pheonixville) who tallied 2 saves and a win before handing his duties over to sophomore Jake Smith (Crofton, MD/South River).

The Knight's 5 goal outburst tied their output in the previous 5 games combined.

Following today's win, the Knights go on the road again to Misericordia University for another non-conference game on Saturday, Sept. 17.  Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
