Knights quiet Caveliers

GLENSIDE, Pa.:  Arcadia University Women's Soccer scored a goal in each half and held visiting Cabrini College without a shot on net, cruising to their fifth win of the season this afternoon at home in non-conference play.  First year Nina Barberi (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) and sophomore Sam Davis (Moorestown, NJ/Moorsetown) scored for the Knights who improve to 5-1-1.  Cabrini falls to 2-2-1 with today's loss.

As a team, the Knights pegged the Cabrini defense for 23 shots, forcing Cavelier keeper Maddy Edwards into making 10 saves on Arcadia's 10 shots that landed on the frame.  The Caveliers were able to generate 4 corner opportunities but each time, Arcadia denied the good look at their junior keeper Jackie Law (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains Fanwood), who finished without a save.

In the 25th minute of today's contest, junior CJ McDonnell (Glenwood, IL/Homewood Flossmoor) took a free kick for the Knights and sailed it into the box finding the head of Barberi giving the Knight's the 1-0 lead.  A nice cross from senior Ashley Knueppel (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) in the 60th minute to Davis resulted in the Knight's second and final score of the game.

Today was the second straight shutout for the Knight's defense.  The back line allowed 4 shots to Cabrini and not one found their way near Law whose goals against average drops to .65 with today's win.

Arcadia returns to action at Wilkes University on Sept. 24.  The Knights knocked off the Colonels earlier this season 4-0 to claim the Haverford College Fall Classic championship.
