Volleyball goes 1-2 at FDU Tournament

MADISON, NJ.:  Arcadia University Volleyball earned a hard-fought 3-2 win over New Jersey City University to finish the Fairleigh Dickinson University-College at Florham Tournament 1-2.  The Knights (2-6 overall) lost in straight sets to both Baruch College and the host Devils.

Games scores for all matches are as follows:

L, 3-0 vs. Baruch: 14-25, 14-25, 20-25
W, 3-2 vs. NJCU: 24-26, 13-25, 25-23, 25-18, 15-11
L, 3-0 vs. FDU-Florham: 12-25, 8-25, 14-25

Sophomores Melissa D'Arcangelo (Brookfield, CT/Brookfield) and Krista Hsu (Newark, DE/Delcastle Tech) and senior Hailey Barger (Sitka, AK/Sitka) contirbuted 5 kills apeice to the Arcadia attack in the team's 3-0 loss to Baruch College (NY).  Junior Jessyca Stoler (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) handed out 17 assists while sophomore libero Veronika Bailey (Plato, MO/Plato) dug 9 balls to lead the Knights.

In the Knight's five set barnburner against New Jersey City University, the team fought off a 2-0 deficit and won games three, four and the deciding fifth game, earning their 2nd win of the year. Barger rang up a team high 20 kills to lead the attack, hitting .349.  Hsu added 12 kills and 12 digs.  Stoler finished with 37 assists and 23 digs, D'Arcangelo with 7 kills and 15 digs with Bailey digging 18 balls. 

After a monterous performance against NJCU, the Knights moved on to face host FDU-Florham and fell in straight sets.  Barger's 4 kills led to 8 of the Knights 23 overall points in the match. 

Arcadia moves on to face Commonwealth Conference opponent Alvernia University on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m.
