Caruso, Bagnall score to lift Men's Soccer to victory

GLENSIDE, Pa.:  Goals by senior Kevin Caruso (Readington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) and sophomore Joe Bagnall (York, PA/Dallastown) spaced 80 minutes apart lifted Arcadia University Men's Soccer to a 2-0 shutout win over visiting Berkeley College (NJ) Saturday afternoon.  The Knights even their record at 4-4 while Berkeley falls to 2-6 overall.

Junior Spencer Lalk (Sparta, NJ/Sparta) placed a lead pass for Caruso resulting in a breakaway goal 1:57 into today's game allowing the Knights the early lead. The goal was the first of the season for Caruso.

Despite Arcadia's 16 shots on goal, Berkeley keeper Thomas Frangieh stood his ground in the net, turning aside 14 Knight shots by game's end.  Arcadia was finally able to tack on an insurance score in the 81st minute, an unassisted tally from Bagnall, his second of the season.

Sophomore keeper Ryan Lantzy (Pheonixville, PA/Pheonixville) earned the shutout win, his third of that fashion, without registering a save, while Arcadia's defense ruled the field, allowing Berkeley no shots on goal.

The Knights finish out their three game home-stand this coming week with a non-conference game against Delaware Valley on Thursday at 4 p.m. followed by their Commonwealth Conference opener Saturday, Oct. 1 against Albright at 3 p.m.
