Box Score Glenside, PA (October 21, 2012) - The #4 Arcadia University Knights (15-5) scored three goals in less than three in minutes in the first half to overcome a 1-0 deficit and defeat the #5 Stevenson College Mustangs (8-12), 6-2 tonight in a Commonwealth Conference First Round Game. This was the Knights first playoff win since advancing to the PAC Finals in 2002. They will head to #1 Messiah on Friday afternoon at 4pm for a semifinal game.
Jennie Kamel scored four goals to lead Arcadia to victory.
Stevenson opened up the scoring at 18:22 as Caitlin Dempsey put in her own rebound for a 1-0 Mustang lead. Kamel scored her first of the game at 28:54 off a pass across the goal mouth from Lynn Beatty to tie the game at 1-1.
Then at 30:33 Arcadia took the lead as Beatty found the ball in front and put it in for a 2-1 Knight lead. Kamel made it 3-1 just 50-seconds later, scoring on a breakaway. The game went into the break with the Knights leading 3-1. Arcadia outshot Stevenson 9-6 and had eight corners to the Mustangs two.
Kamel then added to the Knights lead at 54:53, deflecting the ball in off a
Taylor Dalisera shot. Stevenson got back to within two just over two minutes later as Karen Mata scored off a pass from Allyson Moody in front.
Molly Goldstein gave Arcadia the three-goal cushion back at 66:58, scoring off a pass in front of the net from Lynn Beatty. Kamel made the final score 6-2, scoring at 70:00 off a scrum following a penalty corner.
Arcadia had 19 shots to Stevenson's seven and had 16 penalty corners to the Mustangs two. Mia DePlata made two saves for the Knights.
