Albright Tallies 61-51 Win Over Arcadia

Box Score READING, Pa.:  Trailing by just 7 at the half (27-34), Arcadia University didn't get the result they hoped for in tonight's final road Commonwealth Conference game at Albright College as the host Lions held on for the ten-point victory, a 61-51 win over the visiting Knights at the Bollman Center.

The Knights opened with a 5-3 lead with a layup from senior Christine Taylor and three-pointer from junior Angie Adams after two minutes of action but Albright's Tara Sabotchick nailed a three-ball and after an Arcadia foul after the made basket, Albright got the ball back and went back to Sabotchick who banked in a runner in the lane that put the Lions on top 9-7.

While the Lions would remain in front the two teams battled for every possession.  Arcadia cut Albright's nine point lead down to 4 with 10:47 to go in the half with another three from Adams and two in the paint from sophomore Victoria Mazzeo but again, when the Lions went ahead by 10 at 6:46.

Albright came into the second half with a 34-27 advantage and immediately regained their ten point lead when Jessica Venturelli converted the and-one in the paint.  Six times in the second half, Arcadia was able to bring their deficit back to single-digits but the closest they would get would be a seven point spread with up 45-38 and 13:21 to play in the game.

The Lions out-shot Arcadia 41.9% to 31.3%.  Arcadia's shooting woes continued at the free throw line where they made just 9-26 while the Lions enjoyed a 72% night at the line.

Junior Jackie Law led the Knights with 14 points on 7 for 11 shooting, 3 rebounds and 3 blocks and 3 steals.  First year Victoria Roukas added 11 points, 11 rebounds for the double-double, her fifth of the season.  Mazzeo scored 9 and hauled in a team high 12 boards along with 2 assists and 2 steals.  Taylor finished with 6 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists.

Albright's Megan Boyle finished with a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds.  Sabotchik led all scorer's with 17 points while Venturelli added 13.

Albright improves to 6-18 overall and 2-11 in Commonwealth play.

Arcadia drops to 3-20 overall, 0-13 in league play with their season finale this Saturday at home, hosting the nationally-ranked Dutchmen of Lebanon Valley College at the Kuch Center. The Knights will recognize their seniors prior to Saturday's 1 p.m. tip-off.
