Bowman, Guentter Lead Knights Past Wesley 7-2

DOVER, DE (April 25, 012) - Mark Bowman '12 delivered 5 hits for Arcadia Baseball and Tyler Guentter '13 one-hit the Wolverines through two innings with four strikeouts as the Knights knocked off host Wesley College 7-2 in tonight's non-league baseball game. 

Arcadia wasted no time answering the Wolverines 1-0 lead in the top of the third to tie the game and following a scoreless fourth, the Knights pushed three scores across to open up a 4-1 lead in the fifth. 

Back to back singles from Justin Simpson '13 and Jerry Smith '13 were followed with an RBI single from Nick Petroski '13 for the go-ahead run.  Anthony Snover '15 then delivered a two-run single to right field, scoring Smith and Petroski for Arcadia's three-run advantage. 

The team traded single runs in the sixth and following a scoreless seventh, the Knights tacked on two more as insurance scores to claim a 7-2 advantage. 

A triple from Simpson down the left field line scored Mark Bowman '12 off his single then Simpson helped himself to home plate on an infielding error. 

Arcadia's pitching staff held it together throughtout the game, allowing just 4 hits to Wesley through nine innings.  The Knights belted out 11 hits.

Starter Matt Dwyer '15 worked  two innings with 1 earned on 2 hits, a walk and a strikeout.  Jonah Van Bemmelen '15 shut down the Wolverines in innings three and four with a walk and a strikeout.  Tyler Guentter '13 earned the win through innings five and six when he sustained the Knight's lead on a one-hitter with 1 earned, a walk and 4 strikeouts.  Adam Planamento '12 worked a frame with one hit, a walk and a strikeout while Taylor Schon '15 finished off the rotation in shutout fahsion through innings eight and nine.

The Knights host Albright College in their final Commonwealth Conference series this Friday at 3:30 PM at Erny Field on Senior Day.
