GLENSIDE, Pa. (September 5, 2012): Coming off an impressive season-opening win over Stockon College on Friday, the Knights looked to add momentum to the young 2012 season against visiting Delaware Valley College, Wednesday afternoon. The Knights picked up right where they left off, playing effective defense and adding timely goals in defeating the Aggies 4-1.
The Knights struck first with a goal from sophomore, Molly Goldstein, 17:21 into the first half. The Aggies were not quick to go away, however, as they responded with a goal four minutes later by sophomore, Courtney Woodward. The first half would end with the score knotted at 1-1 as the Knights hoped to improve their record with a strong second half.
The Knights got exactly what they were hoping for as first-year, Jennie Kamel, scored the first goal her collegiate career just five minutes into the second half. After an assist on the Knights' first goal, Lynne Beatty, decided to score 1 of her own with 15 minutes left in the second half to put the Knights up 3-1. Sophomore, Katrina Dull, rounded out the scoring, finishing in front of the net off a rebound with ten minutes in regulation.
For the Knights, first-year goalie, Mia De Plato, was again outstanding in the cage. DePlato has allowed only three goals in her first two career starts, both wins for the Knights. Delaware Valley College goal keeper, Sandra Edwards, allowed four goals while saving three shots, taking the loss as the Aggies dropped to 0-2 on the season.
The undefeated Knights will try to extend their winning streak to three games as they travel to Marywood University on Saturday, September 8th. The scheduled start time for that game is 4 PM.
