Box Score GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University field hockey team dropped a tightly contested 2-1 MAC Commonwealth contest to 12th-ranked Messiah College Saturday evening at Easton Field.
The Falcons, who were coming off a 5-1 win over top-ranked Franklin & Marshall College, improved to 9-2 overall and 3-0 in the MAC Commonwealth with the win. The Knights fell to 8-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play with the loss.
The match was scoreless until 10:06 into the second half when freshman forward Moriah Pfautz (Ephrata, Pa.) tipped in a blast from Senior forward Brooke Sands (Lancaster, Pa.) that came from outside the circle into the cage to give Messiah a 1-0 lead. The two teams then exchanges scoring chances before Pfautz tipped the ball in off a shot taken by sophomore
Jennie Kamel (Doylestown., Pa.) with 7:38 left in the match for her team-leading 10th goal of the season. The Knights had a couple chances to tie the game in the closing minutes, but were unable to get the equalizer.
Senior goalkeeper Molly Gebrosky (Latrobe, Pa.) recorded four saves in goal for the Falcons as she improved her record to 9-2. Freshman goalkeeper
Brittany Hodson (Highesville, Md.) had three saves for Arcadia as her record fell to 8-5.
Messiah had a 12-6 advantage in shots, with shots on goal even at five each. The Knights held an 8-7 advantage in penalty corners.
Arcadia will return to action Tuesday when it hosts a 4 p.m. MAC Commonwealth match against Alvernia University at Easton Field.
