No. 7 Women’s Soccer Travels to No. 6 Swarthmore for ECAC Semifinal Saturday

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The seventh-seeded Arcadia University women's soccer team will travel to sixth-seeded Swarthmore College Saturday morning for an 11 a.m. ECAC South Championship Tournament semifinal match, with the winner heading to Stevenson University to play for the tournament title Sunday at 1 p.m. The Knights and Garnet were originally scheduled to meet at Stevenson Saturday night.

TOURTNAMENT UPDATE: Arcadia advanced to the semifinals with a 3-1 win at second-seeded McDaniel, marking the school's first-ever ECAC tournament win in any sport, while Swarthmore posted s 3-2 win at third-seeded Lebanon Valley. Top-seeded Stevenson won a 1-0 match against eighth-seeded Alvernia and will host the other semifinal match against fourth-seeded Grove City College, which dispatched fifth-seeded Juniata College 6-0.

SCOUTING ARCADIA: The Knights are 12-4-5 this season following their 3-1 quarterfinal win over the Green Terror. Junior forward/midfielder Kim Canfield setup senior Sara Volk-Perez for the first goal of the game and then sealed the win when she buried a feed from senior Rachel Dolly late in the second half. Dolly also setup sophomore Melia Ochsner with what proved to be the game-winner in the first half. It was the first goal of the season for both Ochsner and Volk-Perez. Canfield leads the team in scoring with 15 goals and a team-best 12 assists for 42 points. Freshman forward/midfielder Lennon Kramer, the 2013 Commonwealth Rookie of the Year, is second on the team in scoring with a team-best 16 goals and four assists for 36 points. Senior forward Fatima Elmedkhar is third on the team in scoring with six goals and five assists for 17 points. Senior keeper Jackie Law is now 10-4-5 in goal with five shutouts, a .077 goals against average and a .842 save percentage. She has 80 total saves on the season while allowing just 15 goals in her 21 matches played.

SCOUTING SWARTHORE: The Garnet won a back-and-forth 3-2 final quarterfinal match at Lebanon Valley Wednesday, taking the lead on three occasions. Junior forward Emma Sindelar scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner in the 78th-minute, while senior midfielder McCleary Philbin opened the scoring 16:19 into the match for the Garnet before setting up Sindelar's game-winner. Sophomore goalkeeper Reba Magier made four of her eight saves in the final seven minutes of the contest. Sindelar leads the team in scoring with 10 goals and seven assists for 27 points, while freshman forward Rebecca Mayeda is second in scoring with eight goals for 16 points. Magier is now 7-5-2 in goal with three shutouts, a 0.99 goals against average and a .845 save percentage. She has recorded 71 saves while allowing 13 goals in her 14 games played.

COMMON OPPONENTS: The only two common opponents between the two teams prior to the ECAC Division III South Championship were Haverford College and Widener University. Arcadia tied both teams during the regular season, while Swarthmore lost both by a final of 1-0. The Garnet dropped a 2-1 decision at McDaniel in Centennial Conference play, while Arcadia fell in back-to-back games at LVC by scores of 2-1 and 2-0.
