ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's swimming team dropped a 123-76 dual meet at Elizabethtown College Saturday afternoon, dropping its record to 0-3 for the season. The Blue Jays improved to 1-1 with the win.
Junior
Whitney Boeckel (York, Pa.) and sophomore
Charity Brain (Kendall Park, N.J.) recorded a one-two finishes in the 200 individual medley with respective times of 2:23.46 and 2:28.46, and the 200 backstroke with respective times of 2:19.11 and 2:23.54. Boeckel's time in the 200 individual medley established a new school record.
The 200 freestyle relay team of freshman
Lillie Curtis (East Prospect, Pa.), Boeckel, sophomore Rebecca Burkhart (Bethel Park, Pa.) and freshman
Anna Sweeney (Highland Park, N.J.) won with a time of 1:48.99, while the 200 medley relay team of junior
Samantha Heeren (Philadelphia, Pa.), freshman Emma Tommasetti (Garnet Valley, Pa.), Burkhart and freshman
Melissa Malik (Cherry Hill, N.J.) finished second with a time of 2:08.55.
Senior
Tara Nuzzo (Mahwah, N.J.) finished second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.71, while Malik finished third in 27.97 seconds. Nuzzo was also the runner-up in the 100 freestyle with a time of 55.58 seconds. Freshman
Shannon Davies (Broomall, Pa.) finished second in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:10.92.
Sweeney finished third in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:12.01 and was also third in the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:10.14. Junior
Jenna Neil (Harrisburg, Pa.) took third in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:53.54.
The Knights will next host a dual meet against Albright College November 9 at 1 p.m. at Lennox Pool.
