Box Score LANGHORE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's basketball team outscored host Cairn University by 30 points in the first half on its way to an 88-35 non-conference victory Monday night to improve its record to 5-0 for the season. The Highlanders fell to 0-3 with the loss.
Sophomore guard
Samantha Caligiuri (West Grove, Pa.) scored a game-high 20 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the field with a pair of threes to lead the Knights, while sophomore forward
Valerie DiMuro (Tappan, N.Y.) poured in 18 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the floor to go with eight boards off the bench. Sophomore guard
Maureen Fiocca (Philadelphia, Pa.) netted 15 points on 7 of-13 shooting from the field and grabbed seven boards.
Senior guard
Victoria Mazzeo (Langhorne, Pa.) registered a double-double, scoring 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting while pulling down a game-high 11 rebounds. Junior forward
Victoria Roukas (Palisades Park, N.J.) also scored in double-figures with 10 points.
Sophomore guard Amie Eppolito (Levittown, Pa.) scored 13 points to lead Cairn, while sophomore forward Brigid Shehan (Media, Pa.) netted eight points with eight boards. Freshman guard Elizabeth Joy Hartzler (Piscataway, N.J.) also scored eight points.
The Highlanders scored four of the first six points in the game before Arcadia blew the contest open with a 32-4 run that gave the Knights a 34-8 lead with 8:44 left in the opening period. Arcadia took a 51-21 lead into the locker room at the half and then outscored Cairn 37-14 in the second for the 88-35 final.
The Knights shot 56 percent (40-71) from the field while holding the Highlanders to 26 percent (14-54) from the floor.
Arcadia will be back in action December 4 when the Knights conclude their season-opening six-game road trip with a Commonwealth Conference contest at Albright College. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. in Reading.
