Brain Sets 400 IM School Record, Falls to Albright 141-104

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's swimming team dropped a 141-104 Middle Atlantic Conference dual meet to visiting Albright College Saturday afternoon at Lenox Pool, dropping its record to 0-4 for the season. The Lions improved to 4-1.
  
Sophomore Charity Brain (Kendall Park, N.J.) set a new school record as she won the 400 individual medley with a time of 5:12.09, and was the runner-up in the 100 and 200 backstroke with respective times of 1:05.31 and 2:21.02. Junior Whitney Boeckel (York, Pa.) won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:04.14 and then went on to win the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:37.22.
 
Freshman Lillie Curtis (East Prospect, Pa.) won the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.98 seconds, while classmate Shannon Davies (Broomall, Pa.) won the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:06.70. The 200 freestyle relay team of freshman Melissa Malik (Cherry Hill, N.J.), Boeckel, sophomore Rebecca Burkhart (Bethel Park, Pa.) and Curtis turned in a first-place time of 1:48.15.
 
Albright started the day by winning the 200 medley relay as the team of juniors Kaitlyn Huizing (Brick, N.J.) and junior Lauren Cormier (Summit Hill, Pa.), and seniors Codi Herr (Silver Spring, Pa.) and Tricia Janowiak (Jim Thorpe, Pa.) turned in a facility-record time of 1:21.41. It was the first of four pool records for the Lions.
 
Junior Gwen Stefan (Lewisburg, Pa.) won the 200 freestyle with a pool record time of 2:01.43, while Herr won the 100 freestyle with a pool record time of 55.04 seconds. The 200 freestyle relay team of Cormier, Herr, Janowiak and Stefan closed the meet with a facility record time of 1:44.04.
 
Arcadia will next compete in a tri-meet at Goucher College with Gallaudet University November 16.
