Slow Start Dooms Men’s Basketball Team in 91-57 Loss at William Paterson.

Box Score WAYNE, N.J. – The Arcadia University men's basketball team dropped a 91-57 non-conference decision at William Paterson University Monday night. The Pioneers improved to 8-2 for the season, while the Knights fell to 4-4 with their third setback in four games.
 
William Paterson never trailed in the game, opening the contest with a 9-2 run over the first 2:28 of the game on its way to taking a commanding 47-17 lead at halftime. Arcadia was unable to bounce back in the second as the Pioneers maintained a 30-point advantage for all but a few minutes of the period.
 
Junior guard Sandy Burgos (Fort Lee, N.J.) scored a game-high 17 points to lead William Patterson, while sophomore guard Bright Mensah (Hackensack, N.J.) posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards to go with three blocked shots and three steals. Junior guard Jaques Conceicao (Massama-Lisboa, Portugal) also registered a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards.
 
Junior guard Travis Saltus (Teaneck, N.J.) scored 16 points with four rebounds to lead the Knights. Junior forward Jose Figueroa (Philadelphia, Pa.) was Arcadia's next-highest scorer, netting eight points and pulling down five rebounds.
 
Arcadia shot just 37 percent (23-63) from the field and was just 1-of-17 from three, while the Pioneers shot 47 percent (31-66) from the field and 23 percent (6-26) from three. William Paterson was 23-of-33 at the line, while the Knights went 10-for-17.
 
Arcadia will next travel to Lebanon Valley College Wednesday for a 3 p.m. Commonwealth Conference contest.
