Box Score Galloway, NJ (February 25, 2013) - The Arcadia University Knights (0-1) started their 2013 season this afternoon with a 2-0 loss at the Stockton University Ospreys (0-3). Stockton scored single runs in the second and fifth, which was enough for the win.
Brandon Martin went 3-4 for the Knights, while
Jordan Hofferman took the loss, allowing two runs on four hits in 4.1 innings pitched.
Stockton got on the board in the second inning as Keith Tappert walked, stole second, moved to third on a throwing error during the steal and then scored on an RBI double by Shawn Kessler for a 1-0 lead. Stockton added another run in the fifth frame when Mark Jankowski doubled and scored on an RBI single by Andy Oliver for a 2-0 Stockton lead.
Arcadia scattered seven hits and had runners in scoring position in three innings, including the ninth, but could not score.
Taylor Schon,
George Pagan,
Patrick Kwiatkowski and
Nick Petroski also recorded a hit this afternoon.
Jason Goldberg finished the game for the Knights, pitching 3.2 innings and allowing just two hits.
The Knights will return to action on Friday as they play their home opener against Swarthmore at 3pm. Tomorrow's scheduled game at Eastern has been postponed.
