Freeman Hits a Pair of Homers as Baseball Completes Sweep of Elizabethtown

Box Score Elizabethtown, PA (March 24, 2013) - Elliott Freeman hit a pair of homers as the Arcadia University Knights (12-6-1, 5-1 MCOM) won the third game of their series with the Elizabethtown College Blue Jays (6-13, 2-4) this afternoon, 9-5. The Knights swept the three game series and sits in first place in the league after two weekends of play. Dave Behler got the win on the mound, pitching six innings and allowing four runs on five hits.

The Knights picked up where they left off to start the second game, scoring two in the first. Jerry Smith hit an RBI double and Jay Zehring hit a sac fly for a 2-0 Arcadia lead. The Knights then added three more in the second as George Pagan scored on an error and Zehring hit a two run single for a 5-0 lead. Elizabethtown then put up a four spot in the bottom of second to make the score 5-4 after two.

Arcadia got another run in the fourth as Zehring scored on an error by the catcher. The Knights made it 7-4 in the fifth as Elliott Freeman hit his first homer of the season. Freeman then hit a two run shot in the seventh to give the Knights a 9-4 lead. The Blue Jays scored one in the seventh, but the its the Knights that swept the three game set, winning 9-5.

Nick Petroski was 2-3 with a run scored. Freeman was 2-4 with the two homers, two runs scored and three RBI. Zehring was 3-4 with a run scored and three RBI for the Knights.

Arcadia will return to action on Wednesday, when they host Valley Forge Christian.
