Box Score Cheltenham, PA (March 27, 2013) - The Arcadia University Knights (13-6-1) won their fourth straight game this afternoon, defeating the Valley Forge Christian College Patriots (0-6), 19-8. The Knights trailed 6-1, but scored six straight runs to take the lead and never looked back.
Connor Arsenault went 4-6 with four runs scored and four RBI.
Valley Forge jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Arcadia got one back in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Arsenault. The Patriots then scored four in the second to take a 6-1 lead. Arcadia evened the scored in the third as they scored five times.
Harry Daut hit an RBI single to make it 6-2.
Tom Wagner then hit an RBI single,
Ryan Sassaman walked to knock in a run and
Kyle Jackson hit a two run single to tie the game at six.
The Knights took the lead in the fourth as Wagner hit an RBI single. Valley Forge Christian tied the game in the fifth, but Arcadia then scored twice in the bottom of the inning.
Elliott Freeman hit an RBI single to make it 8-7 and Mike Nessel hit an RBI single for a 9-7 score.
Arcadia then scored five in the sixth and five in the seventh. In the fifth, Sassaman scored on a wild pitch, Jackson scored on an error, Arsenault had an RBI single, Freeman scored on an error and Arsenault scored on an error. The in the sixth, Arsenault hit a two-run double, Jacobs scored on an error, Arsenault scored on a wild pitch and Nessel scored on a wild pitch for an 19-7 lead.
The Patriots got one back in the eighth and the final scored was 19-8.
Jackson was 3-7 with two runs scored and two RBI.
David Jacobs was 3-5 with three runs scored.
Kevin Whisler got the win, pitching 3.1 innings and one run on three hits, while striking out four.
Dan Shiramizu also pitched an impressive three innings, allowing just one run on three hits.
Arcadia returns to action tomorrow afternoon as host Messiah College for a 12pm MAC Commonwealth doubleheader at Erny Field.
