Baseball Walks Off In Game Two to Earn Doublheader Split with Stevenson

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Cheltenham, PA (April 13, 2013) - The Arcadia University Knights (18-11-1, 10-5 MCOM) walked off with a game two victory and earned a split of their doubleheader with the Stevenson University Mustangs (21-11, 10-5). The Knights won the second game 4-3 and dropped the first game 4-1. Taylor Schon had four hits on the day with two runs scored and two RBI.

In game one, Stevenson broke a scoreless tie in the fourth as they scored three times. Arcadia got one back in the bottom of the inning as Schon hit an RBI single to make it 3-1. The Mustangs scored another in the fifth and took the game 4-1. Justin Simpson was 2-4 in game one. Marc Gottfried took the loss, pitching 5.1 innings and allowing four runs on six hits.

In game two, Arcadia scored the first run in the third as David Jacobs hit an RBI single. Stevenson then scored twice in the fourth to take a 2-1 lead. The Knights then took the lead, 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth as Jay Zehring hit an RBI double and Schon hit an RBI single. Stevenson tied the game in the seventh, scoring the tying run with two outs.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Knights put the potential winning run at second with two outs. Pagan then hit a seeing eye single up the middle that scored Schon and gave the Knights the win.

Schon was 3-3 with two runs scored and an RBI in game two. Zehring with 2-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

Arcadia will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to face Gwynedd-Mercy in a non-conferene game.
