Baseball Splits Doubleheader with Lebanon Valley

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Cheltenham, PA (April 20, 2013) - The Arcadia University Knights (19-13-1, 11-6 MCOM) split their MAC Commonwealth doubleheader with the Lebanon Valley College Dutchmen (11-13, 4-13) this afternoon. The Dutchmen took game one 5-1, while the Knights won the night cap, 8-2. George Pagan had five hits in the doubleheader with two runs scored.

The first game started with Lebanon Valley getting on the board first, scoring an unearned run in the first inning. The Dutchmen then added four more in the sixth to take a 5-0 lead. Arcadia got their lone run of the game on an RBI single by Elliott Freeman in the seventh and fell 5-1 in game one. David Jacobs and George Pagan each had two hits for the Knights.

After three scoreless innings, the Knights struck first in the fourth of game two as Jay Zehring hit an RBI double for a 1-0 lead. In the fifth, Elliott Freeman hit a three run homer and Jerry Smith hit an RBI triple for 5-0 Arcadia lead. Justin Simpson hit an RBI double in the sixth to extend the Knights advantage to 6-0. Smith then hit his second triple in as many at bats, driving in Simpson to make it 7-0. Taylor Schon the made the score 8-0 with a RBI single in the sixth.

Pagan was 3-3 with two runs scored. Smith was 2-4 with a run scored and two RBI, while Jacobs was 2-4 with a run scored. Zehring was 2-4 and Schon was 2-4. Dave Behler got the win, pitching a complete game allowing just one earned run on six hits which striking out six.

Arcadia and Lebanon Valley will play the final game of their three game series tomorrow at 1pm in Annville.
