Baseball Now Faces Elmination After Falling to Alvernia in MAC Commonwealth Baseball Championships

Box Score West Lawn, PA (May 3, 2013) - The Arcadia University Knights now face elimination in the 2013 MAC Commonwealth Baseball Championships after falling to the Alvernia University Crusaders this afternoon, 8-2. Arcadia will now face Stevenson in an elimination game at 7:30pm tonight. Alvernia moves on to the Championship round tomorrow against the winner of the game tonight.

Alvernia struck quickly scoring three runs in the first. They then added two more in the second to take a 5-0 lead. Arcadia got on the board in the fourth as Jerry Smith and George Pagan both got with pitches. Jay Zehring then hit an RBI single that ricocheted off the pitcher and Nick Petroski hit a sac fly to make it 5-2. Alvernia added a run in the fourth to make it 6-2 and two more in the eighth to make the final 8-2.

Nessel, David Jacobs, Elliott Freeman and Petroski each had two hits for the Knights. Dave Behler took the loss, pitching 3.2 innings and allowing six runs, five earned on seven hits. Steve Price got the win for Alvernia allowing two run on eight hits in six innings.
