Box Score WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Sophomore forward
Nicole Lobaton (Parsippany, N.J.) scored the lone goal of the game with 47 seconds remaining in the first half to give the Arcadia University women's soccer team a 1-0 victory at Wilkes University Saturday.
The Knights improved to 6-0-2 with the victory, while the Colonels fell to 5-2-1. Arcadia is currently ranked 10th in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Mid-Atlantic Region rankings, while Wilkes is ranked fifth.
The Knights were awarded a corner kick with just over a minute to go in the opening frame, and junior forward
Kim Canfield (Hillsborough, N.J.) served the ball in to Lobaton, who headed the ball into the goal for her second tally of the season.
Senior goalkeeper
Jackie Law (Scotch Plains, N.J.) stopped all four shots on goal she faced to record her second shutout of the season and improve her record to 4-0-2 for the year. Sophomore goalkeeper Kate Mahoney (Kingston, N.H.) also had four saves in the match for Wilkes as her record fell to 5-2-1.
Arcadia outshot the Colonels 10-6 in the game and had a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
The Knights will continue their four-game road trip Wednesday when they travel to Delaware Valley College for a 4 p.m. non-conference contest.
