Field Hockey Team Shutout at Elizabethtown, 2-0

Box Score ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Arcadia University field hockey team dropped a 2-0 decision at Elizabethtown University Saturday afternoon. It was the first MAC Commonwealth match of the year for both teams. The Blue Jays improved to 5-3 with the win, while the Knights fell to 5-4.
 
Freshman midfielder Nicole Leaf (Marriottsville, Md.) opened the scoring 13 minutes into the game, putting a shot into the top left corner of the cage off a penalty corner for the only goal Elizabethtown would need. Sophomore forward Andrea Keady (New Hartford, N.Y.) added an insurance goal 4:16 into the second half for the 2-0 final.
 
Freshman goalkeeper Brittany Hodson (Hughesville, Md.) had a stellar performance in goal despite taking the loss, tallying 12 saves to help keep Arcadia in the match. Her record now stands at 5-4 for the season. Junior goalkeeper Marlena Johnson (Stewartstown, Pa.) improved to 5-3 after making two saves for the Blue Jays.
 
Elizabethtown outshot the Knights 13-3 in the first half and finished with a 19-3 advantage at the end of the contest. The Blue Jays held a 15-5 advantage in penalty corners.
 
Arcadai will next travel to DeSales University Tuesday for a 4 p.m. non-conference match.
