Women’s Soccer Suffers First Loss of 2013 at Seventh-Ranked Misericordia, 1-0

Box Score DALLAS, Pa. – The Arcaida University women's soccer team dropped its first game of the 2013 season with a 1-0 setback at seventh-ranked Misericordia University Saturday evening. The Cougars improved to 7-1-1 with the win, while the Knights fell to 7-1-2 with the loss.

The lone goal of the match was scored in the 76th-minute as junior forward Megan Mahoney (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) put her own rebound into the back of the net with her fourth goal of the season.

Arcadia nearly pulled ahead a short while before Mahoney's goal the as sophomore forward/back Melia Ochsner (Phoenix, Ariz.) headed the ball off the crossbar off a corner kick in the 68th-minute. Arcadia kept pressing, allowing freshman forward Lennon Kramer (Nazareth, Pa.) to get off a pair of shots, the first of which was wide and the second was stopped by sophomore keeper Maureen Ciccosanti (Middletown, N.J.).

The Knights were then called offside at 74:42 and the Cougars were able to turn the ball up the field. Mahoney's initial shot was saved by senior keeper Jackie Law (Scotch Plains, N.J.), but she could not secure the ball and Mahoney tapped in the rebound at 75:55.

Law finished the contest with nine saves as her record fell to 5-1-2 for the season. Ciccosanti had two stops in the game as she improved to 7-1-0 and recorded her third shutout of the year.
