Box Score DOYLESTOIWN, Pa. – The Arcadia University field hockey team gave up two goals in the final nine minutes of play as it dropped a 3-2 non-conference decision at Delaware Valley College Wednesday afternoon. The Aggies improved to 2-0 for the season, while the Knights fell to 1-1.
The game was scoreless until 22:52 into the contest when sophomore forward Taylor Prichett (Southampton, Pa.) put the ball into the cage during a scramble to give Delaware Valley a 1-0 lead, but that advantage didn't last for long as sophomore forward
Rachel Longenecker (Annandale, N.J.) scored her first goal of the year just 28 seconds later off a lead pass from junior forward
Molly Goldstein (Oak Ridge, N.J.) to tie the game 1-1.
The Knights took the lead 11 minutes into the second half when junior midfielder
Katrina Dull (Coopersburg, Pa.) tapped in a shot from Goldstein off a penalty corner, and the score remained 2-1 for Arcadia until Prichett scored her second goal of the contest with 8:22 left on the clock. The Aggies then pulled ahead for good 2:20 later when junior midfielder Kelsey Zook (Oley, Pa.) banged one in from the top of the circle for the 3-2 final.
Senior goalkeeper Sandra Edwards (Hampton, N.J.) made a total of 13 saves in the game to pick up the win in net for Delaware Valley, while freshman
Brittany Hodson (Highesville, Md.) had six saves in taking the loss for Arcadia. Junior midfielder
Morgan Paese (Harrisburg, Pa.) came up with a defensive save for the Knights.
Arcadia outshot the Aggies 20-14 in the game, which included a 14-9 advantage in the second half, and held a 13-5 advantage in penalty corners.
The Knights will next travel to Moravian College Friday afternoon for a 4 p.m. non-conference contest.
